I came to Backbone Mountain from Mount Davis in Pennsylvania. These peaks are separated by only couple hours of driving, so many people do them on the same trip. Going up this peak was a much different experience compared to Backbone. For one, there was nobody here. However, the view wasn't as nice. The summit is located inside a forest. It is pretty easy to find, since the trail is well marked. Right before the summit is a marker indicating state boundaries. The summit is marked by a sign, and even includes a box containing certificates of accomplishment.
